“We just had the weirdest case.” Tracy said as she settled down on Vachon's couch, “It was a murder at a video game company and the owner had created a virtual reality game about being a vampire.”
“A vampire?” Vachon said looking confused.
“Yeah apparently the game is nothing but going around, killing people and drinking their blood.”
A thoughtful look crosses Vachon's face.
“So what happened to this game?”
“The prototype from the crime scene went missing, but the one the murderer had is in the evidence locker.”
“So,” Vachon said, coming up behind and Tracy and rubbing her shoulders, “you have access to this vampire game? I mean if I wanted to try it out you could get it for me, right?”
“Vachon,” Tracy said with a hint of annoyance in her voice, “are you asking me to risk my career by breaking into the evidence locker and stealing a vital and incriminating piece of evidence so you can play a video game?”
“Jeez Trace,” he said as he his hands continued down her back, “when you say it like that, it makes me sound like an asshole.”
They sat in silence for a few minutes as Vachon continued to rub Tracy's stiff back.
“You know,” Vachon whispered in her ear, “if you get me that game I'd be more than happy to rub your shoulders like this every night for a week.”
Tracy pulled away from Vachon's hands, stood up and glared at him.
“Vachon,” she started, “last year I dated a guy who wanted me to go out and not only buy him Doom, but sit naked next to him as he played it for his birthday. Now keep in mind this was his birthday present and in order to get me to agree to this, he was on his knees for hours. If he were asking me to do what you are, by the time he was finished paying me back for it, he'd be too dehydrated to play. Goodnight.”
With a small wave Tracy left the church. Vachon sat there, mouth hanging open in disbelief.
Giggle
“Urs?” he called when he heard the small, girlish laughter.
Urs stepped out from behind a pile of boxes, a huge grin on her face.
“That was brilliant!”
